We compared four Everstage alternatives, QuotaPath, CaptivateIQ, Salesforce Spiff, and Xactly, on published pricing, what the base price includes, setup time, and CRM fit.
Commission software automates payout calculations from CRM data and gives sales, RevOps, and finance teams a single record of what each rep has earned. Everstage is one of the best-known platforms in this category, built mainly for mid-market sales teams. It holds a 4.8 out of 5 rating on G2.
However, many buyers look for alternatives to Everstage. This is usually because the company doesn’t publish its prices, so teams have to go through a sales process to learn the cost, and the platform is built for teams of 20 to 30 payees and up (Everstage pricing page, accessed October 12, 2026). Smaller teams and teams that want to budget before a demo usually need a different fit. For them, QuotaPath is our top pick, with published rates and a free trial on real data.
QuotaPath publishes this guide and ranks its own platform first. To keep that fair, every capability claim comes from public pricing pages and documentation, review scores appear for every vendor, and QuotaPath’s limits sit next to everyone else’s. Our assessment of competing products relies on their public documentation and reviews, with no hands-on testing. Prices and ratings were checked on October 12, 2026.
Key takeaways
- For most growing sales teams, QuotaPath is the strongest Everstage alternative in 2026. Teams with very complex enterprise plans should also shortlist CaptivateIQ or Xactly.
- Ask quote-only vendors for a written price early and budget against real deals: Vendr’s purchase data puts the median at $37,044 a year for CaptivateIQ and $79,991 for Xactly.
- Check G2’s subscores, where QuotaPath tops support and admin, and Everstage tops setup.
- If your CRM is HubSpot, Pipedrive, or Zoho, take Spiff off the shortlist and compare QuotaPath and Everstage head-to-head on support scores and total cost.

Why commission software buying looks different in 2026
The commission software market has changed since 2024, and those changes affect which Everstage alternative fits your team. Who signs off on the purchase, how often plans need updating, and what buyers expect from AI all look different today.
Finance now signs off
ASC 340-40, the cost-of-contract guidance FASB issued with ASC 606, requires companies to capitalize commissions tied to winning a contract and expense them over the contract’s life. Each payout then becomes a traceable accounting entry, so finance joins the evaluation to confirm the commission system produces amortization schedules on its own.
Everstage sells ASC 606 compliance as a scoped add-on (Everstage pricing page, October 2026). QuotaPath includes a commission ledger and ASC 606 support on Growth, its entry plan (QuotaPath pricing).
“Integrating QuotaPath with Rippling turned a triple-check nightmare into a one-click process. I save 30 minutes per pay run and finally trust that commissions and payroll are 100% aligned.”
Joan Schiffer, Director of Accounting, Virtuous
Plans change every year
Alexander Group has run sales compensation trend surveys for more than two decades, and they show plans rarely stay the same from year to year. In its 2026 survey, 97% of companies changed their plans, up from 86% the year before, and 77% of companies said competition had shaped their plan design or program management. Its 2025 research found 47% of companies naming market uncertainty as their top compensation challenge and 68% expecting to add sales headcount, the highest share since 2019. Teams that rebuild each change in spreadsheets carry measurable risk: Raymond Panko’s review of 85 spreadsheet audits found errors in 94% of them.
AI moved from calculation to plan design
Commission vendors have spent the past year adding AI that goes beyond calculating payouts. CaptivateIQ has introduced CaptivateIQ Agents, and QuotaPath launched Atlas on June 1, 2026, an AI revenue strategist trained on tens of thousands of comp plans. Gartner expects AI agents to outnumber human sellers tenfold by 2028, yet fewer than 40% of sellers say those agents improved their productivity. When you evaluate these features, look for AI that tests a plan’s economics before rollout.
“We have eight years of data, history, and experience to back the release of our AI Revenue Strategist product, Atlas, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to dynamically help our customers navigate the complexities of their variable comp plans.”
AJ Bruno, Co-founder and CEO, QuotaPath
What to look for in an Everstage alternative
Most teams that switch tools are reacting to costs they couldn’t forecast or plan changes stuck in someone else’s queue, so we weighed each alternative on six points:
- Pricing you can model: Published rates let you project cost at next year’s headcount before a demo.
- Who changes the plan: Confirm your admins can edit and publish plan changes themselves.
- What the base includes. List which of ASC 606 reporting, CRM apps, and payroll sync come in the base price.
- CRM and payroll fit: Confirm native connectors for your CRM, accounting system, and payroll provider.
- Setup time: Ask for the typical implementation length for teams your size, in writing.
- Rep visibility: Reps should see what each deal pays and raise a dispute inside the tool.
Design, track, and manage variable incentives with QuotaPath. Give your RevOps, finance, and sales teams transparency into sales compensation.
Talk to SalesHow we ranked these platforms
We started with G2’s sales compensation category and kept the vendors Everstage buyers compare most often. For cost, we used published pricing pages where vendors have them and Vendr’s purchase data where they quote. For buyer sentiment, we used each platform’s G2 star rating and seven G2 reviewer scores, from quality of support to ease of setup, all accessed October 13, 2026. We then weighed the results against the six criteria above.
Cost and fit carried the most weight in the ranking, since the top four sit within 0.6 stars of each other on G2. Their reviewer bases differ, though: 53.6% of QuotaPath’s reviews come from mid-market companies, while 55.6% of Xactly’s come from enterprises.
The chart compares how G2 reviewers score all five platforms, Everstage included, on three measures out of 10: quality of support, ease of admin, and ease of setup.

Across all seven measures G2 tracks, QuotaPath has the top score on five, and Xactly has the lowest score on every one.
The table lists all seven G2 scores for each platform, out of 10. The top score in each row is in bold.

#1 QuotaPath
G2: 4.8 (402 reviews), accessed October 12, 2026 (G2)
Best for: small and mid-market teams on HubSpot or Salesforce that want published pricing and finance-ready commissions on the entry plan
QuotaPath, founded in 2018, is commission software that pulls deal data from the CRM, applies plan logic automatically, and shows reps their earnings deal by deal. Its specialty is self-serve plan design: the AI-Powered Plan Builder turns a written comp plan into working logic, and Atlas benchmarks a plan against QuotaPath’s data before rollout. Growth includes deal flagging, in-app discrepancy resolution, and native HubSpot and Salesforce apps.
QuotaPath lists average implementation at 30 to 60 days, against the four to six weeks Everstage advertises (Everstage pricing page, October 2026), and some reviewers mention a learning curve on complex plans.
“We looked at Spiff, CaptivateIQ, and others, but QuotaPath’s intuitive UI, transparency, and incredible support won us over.”
Kenza Sebbar, RevOps leader, QuotaPath customer (QuotaPath)
On published rates, Growth costs $35 per user each month on top of a $525 platform fee, and Premium costs $50 per user on top of $800. Premium adds plan modeling, multi-level approvals, API access, and payroll sync with Rippling, and neither tier has a seat minimum.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Published pricing with no seat minimums | Platform fee raises effective cost for very small teams |
| ASC 606 support and CRM apps on the entry plan | Payroll sync and API access require Premium |
| Free 14-day trial on real data | Fewer G2 reviews than Everstage |
| AI plan design plus Atlas benchmarking | Very large regulated programs may outgrow it |
#2 CaptivateIQ
G2: 4.7 (3,489 reviews), accessed October 12, 2026 (G2)
Best for: enterprise teams with complex, frequently changing plans and analysts comfortable with spreadsheet-style logic
Skip it if: you need a published price or a short evaluation
Gartner named CaptivateIQ a Leader in its 2026 Magic Quadrant for Sales Performance Management. Its spreadsheet-style builder handles detailed logic, and the suite now spans incentives, planning for territories and quotas, and a predictive modeling layer called Catalyst (CaptivateIQ product pages, October 2026). The company has raised $164.6 million, including a $100 million Series C in 2022 at a $1.25 billion valuation, according to TechCrunch.
CaptivateIQ prices by quote, and G2 reviewers who compared the two rate CaptivateIQ as more usable than QuotaPath, but more expensive and slower to reach ROI (G2). Our CaptivateIQ alternatives guide covers where other platforms excel.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Handles highly complex plans | Quote-only pricing |
| Planning and modeling in one suite | Slower to reach ROI, per G2 reviewers |
| Largest G2 review base here | More platform than small teams need |
#3 Salesforce Spiff
G2: 4.6 (3,136 reviews), accessed October 12, 2026 (G2)
Best for: companies standardized on Salesforce Sales Cloud that want commissions inside the CRM
Skip it if: your system of record is HubSpot, Pipedrive, or Zoho
Spiff sits inside Sales Cloud’s sales performance management tools. Reps see commission estimates where they already work, and admins get tracing and audit trails for each calculation through Spiff Designer (Salesforce Spiff pricing page, October 2026).
Spiff lists at $75 per user per month on an annual contract, billed on top of Sales Cloud licenses, and there’s no trial (Salesforce Spiff pricing page, October 2026). Reviewers on G2 who used both tools say QuotaPath cost less and paid back sooner. Our Spiff, CaptivateIQ, and Xactly comparison goes deeper.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Native to Sales Cloud | Requires Sales Cloud |
| Published list price | No free trial |
| Large G2 review base | Highest published per-user price here |
#4 Xactly
G2: 4.2 (1,096 reviews), accessed October 12, 2026 (G2)
Best for: large enterprises with dedicated compensation administrators and long planning cycles
Skip it if: you want to run commissions without a specialist admin
Founded in 2005, Xactly is the longest-running vendor here and was taken private by Vista Equity Partners in 2017 in a deal valued at about $564 million, according to its SEC filing. Its Incent platform targets large sales organizations, and territory planning came through acquisitions such as AlignStar.
Xactly takes an average of 5 months to implement, according to G2 reviewers, and Vendr’s purchase data puts the median contract at $79,991 a year. Of its G2 reviews, 55.6% come from enterprise companies, and its 4.2 rating is the lowest in this group. Pricing is by quote, and the platform suits buyers who rank vendor longevity and enterprise governance above setup speed or cost.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Two decades in the category | Lowest G2 rating here |
| Enterprise governance | Quote-only pricing |
| Territory planning | Built for enterprise admin teams |
How to choose an Everstage alternative
Multiply next year’s payees, managers, and admins by each per-user price and add any fixed fees. Our commission calculators and plan templates speed up that math, and the checks below test each tool on your own data:
- Load one closed pay period and compare payouts with what you paid.
- Change a live plan yourself and time it.
- Ask finance to pull an ASC 606 amortization schedule.
- Have two reps check their deal-level breakdowns.
If your team runs on HubSpot or Salesforce and wants to budget without waiting for a quote, QuotaPath is built for that. Talk to our team about your plan today.
How to switch from Everstage
Switching commission tools involves both RevOps and finance, because plan logic and commission history have to move to the new platform intact. Following these steps in order protects the accuracy of the first payout your reps receive from it.
- Export your history. Pull plan documents, payee lists, and at least two closed periods of payout data out of Everstage before your contract ends.
- Rebuild each plan. Recreate rates, accelerators, splits, and clawbacks in the new tool, and write down any rule that behaves differently.
- Reconnect your systems. Link your CRM, accounting, and payroll tools, and check that deal fields map to the right plan inputs.
- Run one pay cycle side by side. Calculate the same period in both tools and resolve every difference before reps see a statement.
- Launch and retire. Train admins and reps on the new tool, then close Everstage access once final payouts and ASC 606 schedules are archived.
Try the most collaborative solution to manage, track and payout variable compensation. Calculate commissions and pay your team accurately, and on time.

Frequently asked questions
Does Everstage offer a free trial?
Everstage doesn’t list a self-serve free trial. Its pricing page offers a no-cost proof of concept instead (Everstage pricing page, October 2026). QuotaPath offers a 14-day free trial you run yourself, so you can load real deals and check payouts without a sales process.
What’s the difference between ICM and SPM software?
Incentive compensation management (ICM) software calculates commissions, routes approvals, and sends payouts. Sales performance management (SPM) is the wider category: it adds territory, quota, and capacity planning on top of ICM. Gartner’s Magic Quadrant evaluates vendors across the full SPM category.
How much do quote-based commission tools cost?
Prices vary widely by headcount and modules. In Vendr’s purchase data, CaptivateIQ contracts run from $12,063 to $100,240 a year across 309 purchases. Xactly contracts run from $13,607 to $423,922 across 110 purchases. Asking each vendor for a per-payee figure makes quotes easier to compare.
